Aftercare

Taking Care of Your New Tattoo

Proper aftercare is essential for the best healing results. Follow these instructions carefully to ensure your tattoo heals beautifully.

Recommended & What to Avoid

What to Avoid

  • Sudocream - not suitable for tattoo healing
  • Stagnant water - swimming pools, baths, sea, jacuzzis
  • UV rays - tanning salons or excessive sun exposure
  • Cosmetics - fake tan or makeup on the area
  • Friction/Pressure - anything that rubs or applies pressure to the tattoo

Day 1 to 5:
Daily Care Instructions

Initial Cleaning (5-6 hours after tattoo)

  1. Wash your hands with liquid, parfum-free, anti-bacterial soap
  2. Remove the clingfilm and dispose of it
  3. Use only your hands to apply soap to your tattoo
  4. Wash under running, lukewarm water to remove all blood, plasma and ink
  5. Repeat this step every 5-6 hours, including after morning showers

Drying & Applying Cream

  1. Pat dry with a paper towel (never use a regular towel - they harbour bacteria and leave fibres)
  2. Once completely dry, apply a very thin layer of Bepanthen
  3. Use just enough to make your skin shiny with uniform coverage
  4. Rewrap with fresh clingfilm

After Day 5:
Moisturising Phase

Continue the same cleaning process, but switch from Bepanthen to A&D Ointment (moisturising cream).

  • Apply at least 3 times per day
  • Prevents skin from drying and scabs forming
  • Total healing time: 4-6 weeks
